Florence Manguyu is a consultant pediatrician in clinical practice in Nairobi, Kenya. She is a member and past president of the Medical Women's International Association. Dr. Manguyu served on the International NGO Steering Committee for the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development and chaired the NGO Forum of the conference. She serves on a number of local and international boards on policy issues. Dr. Manguyu is an ardent and respected advocate for the health and well-being of women and children around the world. In her home country, she pioneered the drafting of the first comprehensive Act on the Rights of the Child. She is currently working with a research team in search of an effective HIV and AIDS vaccine in East Africa.
