This morning, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-2 in favor of Pathfinder and our co-plaintiffs in USAID v AOSI, a case challenging a 2003 law requiring all groups receiving funds for HIV and AIDS work to have “a policy explicitly opposing prostitution.”

Recognizing the best in video for social good, YouTube announced the four winners of its DoGooder Video Awards Friday. The categories celebrate videos that tap into the power of the social web to garner support for good causes.

What Mason found most remarkable about this year's winners is how well they all understand YouTube as a social platform.

"The videos are social, shareable, informative, entertaining and surprising. Multiple finalists collaborated with YouTube channels and creators to reach an even wider audience. Finally, the winners had a clear call to action outlining how to make a difference," she said.

IAVI Welcomes New Members Purnima Mane and Alice P. Albright to Board of Directors

Pathfinder President and CEO, Purnima Mane, joins the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative Board of Directors.

"As a former member of IAVI’s Policy Advisory Committee, I have long believed that the development of a safe and effective HIV vaccine is essential to bringing an end to the AIDS pandemic,” Purnima Mane, President and CEO of Pathfinder International, said. “That conviction has been reinforced continually over nearly three decades of work in areas related to AIDS and sexual and reproductive health. Pathfinder Supports WHO Guidance on Hormonal Contraceptives and HIV

Today the World Health Organization released their much-anticipated recommendations on hormonal contraceptives and HIV. Pathfinder was pleased to participate in the consultation and supports WHO's position.

Taming the Wild West of Family Planning

In sub-Saharan Africa, where 43 percent of people are under 15, and birth rates are still high, experts back contraception and family planning.

"In recent years we as a movement have said let's hang on to what we have achieved." Dan Pellegrom, President of Pathfinder International, said. "That is an argument for retaining the status quo. You don't mobilise people by retaining the status quo."

New Population, Health, and Environment Program for Lake Victoria

Pathfinder International's New Program to aid Uganda and Kenya in the Lake Victoria Basin was announced on Monday at The International Conference for Family Planning in Senegal.

"This new project is a welcome development for many reasons," said ECSP Director Geoff Dabelko. "It brings the integrated PHE approach to one of the world's greatest lakes, it enables respected health NGO Pathfinder to pursue PHE efforts, and marks the return of a leading private donor, the MacArthur Foundation, to a group of foundations willing to support this innovative approach."

House Foreign Affairs Committee Votes to Defund the United Nations Population Fund

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) was the latest target for opponents of family planning and reproductive health. The House of Representatives passed a bill to eliminate US funding to this vital organization.
