Integrating Family Planning in Primary Health Care and HIV Care and Treatment Services in Mozambique
This technical update discusses how Pathfinder’s Extending Service Delivery–Family Planning Initiative has begun to integrate family planning into existing services, including primary health care and HIV care and treatment in Mozambique.
This practical guide presents evidence and example activities that serve as a resource for program implementers and planners working to prevent HIV among female sex workers (FSWs), men who have sex with men (MSM), and people who inject drugs (PWID).
Bussi Island is located in the Wakiso district, which suffers a deforestation rate of 86.7 percent. To address low contraceptive use in Tanzania, a pilot intervention using a mobile job aid was developed to guide community health workers to deliver integrated counseling on family planning, HIV, and other sexually transmitted infections.

Expanding Access to the Intrauterine Device in Public Health Facilities in Ethiopia: A Mixed-Methods Study
Following the introduction of IUDs into the Ethiopian public health sector, use increased from <1% in 2011 to 6% in 2014 in a sample of 40 health facilities. The IUD was acceptable to a diverse range of clients, including new contraceptive users, those with little to no education, those from rural areas, and younger women.
The Single-Visit Approach as a Cervical Cancer Prevention Strategy Among Women With HIV in Ethiopia: Successes and Lessons Learned
With the single-visit approach for cervical cancer prevention, women with positive “visual inspection of the cervix with acetic acid wash” test results receive immediate treatment of the precancerous lesion with cryotherapy. The approach worked successfully for women with HIV in Ethiopia in secondary and tertiary health facilities, with high screening and cryotherapy treatment rates.
Young People Living with HIV: A Collection and Review of the Resources for Health Workers Around the World
This compendium was developed to identify and facilitate access to useful resources that will help field teams and organizations around the world improve service provision for young people living with HIV. The compendium includes resources for PLHIV related to: HIV care; HIV treatment; positive, health, dignity, and prevention; sexual and reproductive health; and disclosure.
Forging a new path is part of Pathfinder’s DNA.
