Farouk Jega is a public health physician with 15 years of progressive experience in program management and evaluation. He serves as our country director in Nigeria, where he oversees technical and administrative aspects of a multi-million dollar portfolio of projects in maternal health, family planning, HIV and AIDS, and advocacy. He joined our team in Nigeria in 2009.
Before serving as country director, Farouk was the program manager for Pathfinder in Nigeria, where he managed several projects, including an innovative intervention to address maternal mortality through a multi-pronged community and health systems strengthening project.
Farouk has considerable knowledge of the Nigeria public health and primary health care space, having worked closely and served on various planning committees with Federal and State Ministries of Health, including the National and State Primary Health Care Development Agencies.
He has an MBBS from the University of Jos and an MPH from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Farouk speaks English and Hausa.
