Sophia Ladha has more than 20 years of development experience with technical expertise in youth-friendly services, HIV & AIDS, reproductive health, gender, and institutional capacity building in Africa. She has served as our country director in South Africa since 2001, with a stint as our regional coordinator for the African Youth Alliance from 2003-2004.
Before joining Pathfinder, Sophia was the regional health network project manager for USAID’s Regional Economic Development Services Office in Kenya, where she was involved in the design, management, implementation, and evaluation of the networking activity that fostered sharing of best practices and lessons learned. She has also worked for UNICEF in Kenya.
She has an MSC from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a BA in economics and Spanish from Wellesley College. Sophia speaks English, Hindi, and Kiswahili, as well as some French and Spanish.
