Operations update from our CEO
Dear Pathfinder Community,
The COVID-19 crisis is changing the face of health care at home and abroad — and our team remains unflinching in our commitment to the women, girls, and families we serve.
The virus is already present in many of the countries where we work, including Egypt, Nigeria, and Burkina Faso, and threatens to spread further. Health care that vulnerable families rely on could face significant interruption resulting in dire impacts to health, as critical resources move from women’s health to emergency response.
We are currently collaborating with local officials to slow COVID-19 infections and ensure the safety and health of women, girls, and communities around the world.
Our experts are closely monitoring COVID-19’s spread and trajectory, implementing rapid response plans to keep the families we serve and our global staff safe — no matter where they live, no matter their economic background. No matter what.
But beyond these vital precautions, we’ve redoubled our commitment to providing high-quality sexual and reproductive health care in communities that would otherwise go without.
Because if families can no longer reach safe delivery care, contraceptives, and basic health care, women will die: that’s the devastating truth. It is our responsibility as Pathfinders to make sure that does not happen.
This means remaining resilient and agile. It means remaining courageous and holding steadfast to our mission and values. And, it means doing everything we can to reach the world’s most marginalized populations, in environments with the greatest challenges, and in the hardest-to-reach regions.
Please accept my deepest gratitude for your belief in our shared work — and my warmest wishes for your health, safety, and wellness.
