The UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on 31 October – 12 November 2021. The COP26 summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Building Climate Resilient Health Systems Through Community-based Health Interventions in Africa

Wednesday, November 3 at 10:15 am ET | 14:15 BST

The event will present the experiences on the effect climate change on health with a major focus on the global South. Building on the WHO climate change and health strategy on climate change and health, this session will discuss the importance of data driven policy and actions for community health resilience.  The panel will further demonstrate the intersectionality of gender and climate change as well as the need for governments to deliver their commitments to its citizenry. The session will end with a call to action for governments, community and civil society to act on climate change and health. Lastly the session will highlight the need for climate resilient health systems and also explore the role of governments, investors and communities in providing support and leadership for states and businesses to accelerate climate change mitigation and adaptation action in line with their pledges/commitments. Elevating Gender in Climate Solutions

With climate shocks posing a significant threat to the livelihoods of women and girls, women- and youth-led solutions that build climate resilience are vital to the health and rights of communities globally. However, solutions and action for climate are often male-driven.
