This paper discusses the “Enhancing Reproductive Rights to Reduce Violence against Women in Gaza Province” Pathfinder project. This baseline survey was to measure the level of knowledge and attitudes towards violence against women among community members in targeted communities at year 1 and provide a basis for evaluation in year 3. 772 households were selected. Over 1/2 (51.4%) of women agreed with at least one reason for which violence against women was justified. 53.9% women believed a husband forcing his wife to have sex was a violation. Only 9.8% believed a man was responsible for his sexual behavior.
