Meet Abdoul Baldé

Deputy Country Director, Burkina Faso
“I am convinced that true development, especially for sub-Saharan Africans, starts with access to contraception…and ultimately, the demographic dividend. I’m excited to work for an organization like Pathfinder that addresses reproductive health issues.”

Dr. Abdoul Baldé has more than 25 years of experience working on public health including family planning and reproductive health projects throughout Africa. He joined Pathfinder in 2013, charged with launching our work in Burkina Faso then leading our two-year adolescents and youth project in Guinea and Burkina Faso.

Before joining Pathfinder, Abdoul served as a civil servant with the Ministry of Health in his country, worked twice for the International Medical Corps as an emergency medical doctor in Haiti for cholera response, and as a medical coordinator in Mali where he provided emergency health services in six community health centers and one referral health center. He also worked for the International Rescue Committee as a health coordinator in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and as a senior technical advisor at Management Sciences for Health in Burkina Faso.

Abdoul has an MD from the University of Conakry and an MPH from Laval University in Quebec. He speaks English and French.
