Anupama Rao is a medical doctor with a specialization in obstetrics and gynecology. She brings over twenty years of clinical experience. In 2017, she joined Pathfinder as a Senior Technical Advisor and has been leading the technical areas in programs on Maternal and newborn health, Family planning and adolescent health. Her experience spans programs funded by the MacArthur Foundation, CIFF, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the WHO. Her technical expertise is backed by a deep knowledge of evidence-based practices, health principles, health systems, and the latest professional developments. As member of the National mentoring team for the LaQshya program (improving the quality of care in labor rooms and Maternity OT) and a member of the Maternal Death Review committee, she has contributed to country and state level quality improvement initiatives.
Prior to joining Pathfinder, during her years of clinical practice, as an active member of the obstetrics and gynecological professional associations, she has worked across programs in adolescent health, cervical cancer prevention, emergency obstetrics and newborn care in the country.
Anupama holds a master’s degree in obstetrics and gynecology from the university of Mumbai, India, and Fellowships in Obstetric Ultrasonography (Nashville) and Fetal Medicine (Sydney).
