Catherine Kirk joins Pathfinder International as Executive Director for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), bringing with her over 20 years of experience in public health and women’s rights programming, with a specialization in comprehensive sexual and reproductive health.
Catherine joins Pathfinder from Marie Stopes International, where she was most recently the acting Chief Operating Officer. She held many roles during her 12 years with MSI, including creating and leading their Global Programmes Division that oversaw over 80% of MSI international grant funded programming, reaching women and girls in over 30 countries. Among her key achievements, Catherine is recognized for designing, securing recurrent funding for, and implementing DFID’s flagship Safe Abortion multi-country consortium Prevention of Maternal Death (PMD) Program, covering 20 countries in Africa and Asia. This resulted in the prevention of 6.9 million unsafe abortions, and a decrease of 43,000 maternal deaths over a span of seven years. Catherine started with MSI in Sierra Leone, growing it from a single project into a large program delivering multiple services and underpinned by an integrated behavior change strategy. This outcome became a key element of MSI’s Outreach Success Model and achieved a 200% increase in Couple Years of Protection from 2007-2009.
