Meet Habeeb Salami

Director of Advocacy, Nigeria
“I see providers get the lifesaving tools and skills they need. I’ve helped supplies reach the most rural communities. Even though I am no longer delivering babies myself, as a Pathfinder, I help keep women and children alive. And it feels good.”

Habeeb Salami is a medical doctor with a specialization in obstetrics and gynecology. He has more than 10 years of experience in public health project management and monitoring and evaluation. He joined our team in Nigeria in 2012 where he oversaw Pathfinder Nigeria’s maternal health and family planning programs; in 2018, he became Pathfinder’s director of advocacy.

Before joining Pathfinder, Habeeb was the technical officer for monitoring and evaluation for the Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative, an FHI360 affiliate. He provided technical assistance and support to six Nigerian states on program implementation, data collection, management, and reporting of the USAID-funded Strengthening Integrated Delivery of HIV & AIDS Services project to state and national counterparts, and donors. He has also worked for FHI360 in Nigeria and as a clinician within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the National Hospital in Abuja.

Habeeb has his MPH from the University of Lagos, he has completed his Part 1 Fellowship in obstetrics and gynecology from the West African College of Surgeons, and he completed his MBBS from the University of Lagos. He speaks English and Yoruba.
