Herbert has more than 27 years of experience in leading and managing complex USAID-funded public health projects, and 20 of these years working in Uganda. In his recent role as a Country Representative for Management Sciences for Health (MSH) in Uganda, he worked with multiple in-country stakeholders including USAID, Ministry of Health (MOH), UNICEF, and UNFPA among others, focusing on reproductive health (RH), maternal and child health, HIV/TB, and provided cost-effective operations and technical support to all projects under his supervision.
Herbert Mugumya is an international development public health professional with experience in designing, leading, managing and implementing, public health programs. Herbert has strong passion for helping vulnerable children, youth and women. Before joining Pathfinder as Chief of Party, Herbert worked for MSH as CR for Uganda, Africare Inc., in Tanzania as COP, USAID mission in Uganda, JSI Inc., Save the Children, and CARE International.
In addition, Herbert has extensive expertise on business development, strengthening Pathfinder external relationships, strategic partnerships, coordination of programs with host government sectors, health systems strengthening, scaling-up coverage of community care and support services, and capacity building of government public health workers and CSOs. Herbert professional efforts continue to contribute to improved quality and expanded access to health, support services for vulnerable populations in low income settings.
