Josaphat Mshighati brings more than 13 years of professional work experience to Pathfinder’s office in Tanzania. As the director of advocacy and population, health, and environment work, he leads our in-country advocacy efforts and manages the portfolio of PHE projects, including Tuungane. He joined Pathfinder in 2016.
He has strong experience in national and subnational level advocacy focusing on tax systems, health governance and financing, agriculture development, land rights for women and smallholder farmers, education rights, youth, and women’s empowerment. He has managed diverse donor programs from USAID, EU, CIDA, Sida, NORAD, DANIDA, the UN and foundations such as Gates, Oak, and WellSpring Philanthropy.
He previously worked for several advocacy-based organizations including Oxfam, ActionAid, and Sikika with established linkages to national platforms such as Policy Forum and Tanzania Education and Parliamentary Committees. He has post-conflict work experience with a focus on peace building and conflict transformation.
Josaphat has his Master’s degree in development management from Ruhr University in Germany and his Bachelor’s degree in arts (political science) and education from the University of Dar es Salaam. He speaks English and Swahili.
