Meet Mahbub Alam

Technical Director/Family Planning Specialist, Bangladesh

Mahbub Alam leads the Family Planning Service Delivery Team for Pathfinder International within the USAID Shukhi Jibon Project. He is responsible for the Project’s technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the areas of FP services quality improvement including the integration of mentoring with supportive supervision, post-partum family planning, and community engagement, among other areas. He also coordinates the project on Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of Rohingya in Camps and Host Communities in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

Before joining Pathfinder, he had a distinguished career at the Directorate General of Family Planning under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Bangladesh for twenty years in various positions, including serving as Program Manager, Family Planning Field Services Delivery. In this capacity he was responsible for strengthening public sector field services, family planning services delivery to hard-to-reach areas, including urban slums, strengthening functionality of integrated services, and overseeing quality of care. Mr. Mahbub-ul-Alam received his master’s in public health from the University of Northumbria, UK. He also holds a Master of Population Sciences and a Master’s in commerce from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
