Meet Sakina Bello

Dr. Sakina Amin Bello is a public health practitioner with over 12 years experience in developmental interventions across health financing; maternal, neonatal and child health/sexual and reproductive health at both national and sub-national levels within Nigeria. She joined Pathfinder in 2015, providing technical assistance in operational research to build evidence which supported contraceptive Implant provision by Community Health Extension Workers (CHEWs) in Kaduna State. She is the country focal point for the Female Health Company (FHC) implementing the FC2 female condom education project since its inception and has supported the Government of Nigeria at the National and sub-national level to build capacity of health providers on female condom.

As the Senior Program Advisor, she provides overall program guidance across Pathfinder Family Planning portfolio in Nigeria, leads the Advance Family Planning (AFP) project and provides technical assistance to advocacy working groups and state ministries of health in AFP supported states.

She is a member of the Health Sector Reform Coalition and co-chairs the advocacy, accountability and resource mobilization sub-committee of the National Reproductive Health Technical Working Group where she provides technical support to government in development of policies and guidelines.

Sakina holds an MBBS degree, a master’s degree in Public Health from University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, and has several certificates from prestigious global institutions like Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and University of Washington amongst others. She speaks English, Hausa, and Fulfulde.
