Meet Tope Folarin

Tope Folarin currently serves as the Vice President for Content and Storytelling at the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, a national nonprofit that provides financial and technical assistance to organizations throughout the United States that are working to improve housing and economic conditions in emerging communities. He also serves as the Chair of the Board of the Institute for Policy Studies, a think tank in Washington DC, and he is a trustee of the PEN/Faulkner Foundation and the Avalon Theater. Tope is also a novelist—his writing has earned many honors, including the Caine Prize for African Writing, and he was named a writer to watch by the New York Times. His debut novel, A Particular Kind of Black Man, was published in 2019.
