Dr. Tabinda Sarosh
President, South Asia, Middle East, and North Africa

With 19 years of experience in the development and humanitarian sectors, Dr. Tabinda Sarosh is Pathfinder’s President, South Asia, Middle East, and North Africa. A Women in Global Health “Heroine of Health” Winner in 2022, Dr. Sarosh is an expert in the localization of global health programs.

In her position as President, she is accountable for the impact and strategies of programs across Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Jordan, and Pakistan. Dr. Sarosh has guided Pathfinder’s teams in the regions she leads to manage a more than $180 million portfolio of locally led and owned global health programs. This includes ensuring voices from the communities Pathfinder serves drive the design and implementation of programs that strengthen health systems, empower women financially, and advance sexual and reproductive health and rights. She regularly coaches and mentors local leaders to ensure operational effectiveness and impact.

An executive leader based in Karachi, Pakistan, Dr. Sarosh is responsible for ensuring Pathfinder leads diversified programs that meet the most pressing needs, mobilizing new resources to support this work and forming essential regional and global partnerships. She has led multi-functional teams spanning technical services, business development, digital health, climate change, and program management.

Previously, from 2016-22, Dr. Sarosh served as Pathfinder’s Country Director in Pakistan, ensuring the needs and voices of local communities were represented in national and international decision-making spaces. Her expertise in advocacy led to policy changes to improve women’s and girls’ sexual and reproductive health outcomes, from increasing legal age of marriage to institutionalizing the right to reproductive health in Sindh province. Dr. Sarosh’s leadership as country director led to a five-fold increase in Pathfinder’s revenue and programmatic scope in Pakistan.

Driven by her commitment to women’s rights, Dr. Sarosh has been a strong advocate for grassroots movement building and has been a part of women’s rights movements across the South Asia region. She combines expertise in research, activism, and systems thinking, contributing to health systems strengthening interventions, programs, and policies, and ensuring health and social systems create an enabling environment for women and girls.

Dr. Sarosh has a BS in medicine and surgery from Dow Medical College and a post-graduate diploma in nutrition. She is an alumna of the summer school on Women, Peace, and Security at the University of Leiden, Netherlands.

Through Pathfinder, I am able to channel my experience as a feminist and an activist and transform it to strengthen health and social systems that improve the lives of women and girls. At the same time, I continue my activism through policy and advocacy work. It’s a journey that holds a so much promise.
