Manual for Applying Gender-Transformative Approach for Dialogue Workshop

Welcome to the Manual for Applying Gender Transformative Approach for Dialogue Workshop—a resource designed for gender experts, community-based organizations, and facilitators of gender-focused workshops. This manual provides a step-by-step guideline on how to foster dialogue between women and men to transform harmful gender norms, redefine power relations, and promote a more equitable distribution of gender roles and responsibilities across all levels of the socio-ecological model.

The manual is structured around 8 highly participatory and interconnected activities, progressing from problem diagnosis to the development of collective solutions that promote women’s participation in leadership roles. It was developed to facilitate dialogue workshops with women climate champions and their male allies under the Advancing the Leadership of Women and Girls Towards Better Health and Climate Change Resilience program in Pakistan. Insights and learnings from these workshops have been incorporated into the manual over time. The manual also offers comprehensive explanations of gender-related concepts, along with practical formats, activity sheets, and facilitation tips for conducting such dialogues effectively.
