2017–2022
Benefiting nearly 53 million people, the Transform: Primary Health Care project strengthens the management and performance of Ethiopia’s national health system by improving quality of service delivery across the continuum of primary health care, improving household and community health practices and health-seeking behaviors, and strengthening program learning to impact policy and activities related to the prevention of child and maternal deaths.
Project Activities
- Increased use of antenatal care, skilled deliveries, child health and family planning services to improve birth outcomes for mothers and their babies.
- Assisted Ethiopia’s health sector management leadership in implementing the government’s Health Sector Transformation Plan.
- Strengthened management and performance of the public health system at the regional, zonal, woreda, and primary health care levels.
- Increased sustainable quality of service delivery across the continuum of care.
- Improved household and community health practices and health-seeking behaviors.
- Partnered with the Ethiopian government, USAID, and other in-country implementers to institute a flexible, responsive, and innovative health system.
- Provided on-demand technical input and innovation as new challenges and opportunities were identified.
