Overview
2018–2023
Improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights of Rohingya women and girls in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

From political violence, environmental disasters, to COVID-19, Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazaar face numerous barriers to accessing life-sustaining services, including sexual and reproductive healthcare. Pathfinder worked closely with local partners to respond to the humanitarian emergency and to provide SRHR services in health clinics in the aftermath of humanitarian and environmental disasters.

Pathfinder also worked with community health workers to distribute clothing, hygiene projects, and other crucial supplies families count on. As part of this program, Pathfinder implemented a pilot project to improving menstrual hygiene management in emergencies for Rohingya adolescent girls in Cox’s Bazar from October 2020 to April 2021 in Blocks C and D of Camp-22.

Project Activities

  • Enhanced capacity of the public sector to provide comprehensive gender responsive SRHR services, including contraception, menstrual regulation care, and gender-based violence prevention and response services for Rohingya refugees, especially young women, who seek services in surrounding host communities in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar
  • Enhanced capacity of the NGO sector to provide maternal and child health, family planning, postabortion care, and gender-based violence services for Rohingya refugees in Camp 22/Unchiprang in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
  • Enhanced community awareness of, engagement with, and demand for services to improve SRHR for Rohingya women and girls.
  • Increased capacity and commitment of organizations and stakeholders to advocate for and provide SRHR services in humanitarian settings.
