Pathways July 2025: Our Work Continues

Democratic Republic of the Congo

In February 2025, Pathfinder experienced a devastating blow: USAID terminated all six of our prime awards, core programs that delivered life-saving care in Burkina Faso, Egypt, Mozambique, Pakistan, and Uganda. These stopped programs reached millions, and Pathfinder lost an additional six awards where it played a support role.

This sudden freeze had immediate and far-reaching consequences. Because of these terminations:

  • 822,974 clients will no longer receive critical family planning services;
  • 128,164 children will miss their DPT3 and measles vaccinations;
  • 202,299 pregnant women will no longer deliver their babies safely in health facilities; and
  • Over 1 million unintended pregnancies will no longer be averted.

These aren’t just numbers. They represent real people whose lives hang in the balance.

What has kept us going is your steadfast support—support that allows us to keep moving forward despite these challenges. Pathfinder’s commitment remains unwavering. We continue to operate in 16 countries, managing 208 projects. Our work reaches over 42 million people.
