Country Director

Mahbub-ul-Alam is Country Director in Bangladesh and Project Director of the USAID-funded Shukhi Jibon program. As Project Director, he is responsible for the project’s technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which includes improving family planning services, integrating mentoring with supportive supervision, post-partum family planning, and community engagement, among other areas.

Before joining Pathfinder, he had a distinguished career at the Directorate General of Family Planning under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in Bangladesh for twenty years holding various positions, including serving as Program Manager, Family Planning Field Services Delivery. In this capacity, he was responsible for strengthening public sector field services, family planning services delivery to hard-to-reach areas, including urban slums, strengthening the functionality of integrated services, and overseeing the quality of care. Mahbub received his Master’s in Public Health from Northumbria University in the United Kingdom. He also holds a Master of Population Sciences and a Masters in Commerce from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh.
