Harold (Hal) A. Glasser will join Pathfinder as the organization’s new Chief Legal Officer on May 1st. As Pathfinder moves to a country-led model that grants significant resources and decision-making powers to its country offices in Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East, building strong legal infrastructure in each country is increasingly important.

“Hal Glasser’s professional experience in non-profit, health policy, corporate, and international environments is ideal for Pathfinder,” said Lois Quam, President and CEO of Pathfinder. “As we move toward greater local control of our operations and programs, we need to make sure our offices around the world have the strongest skill sets possible when it comes to compliance, monitoring, and legal standards. Hal will help us build that capacity.”

After a distinguished international corporate career at Merck & Co., Inc./MSD, Glasser founded an international non-governmental organization in global health, the Health Impact Partnership, with programs currently under development in Burkina Faso and Uganda. He has also served as legal counsel for Vital Strategies, a global health organization.

In his new role as Chief Legal Officer, Glasser will provide organization-wide legal guidance and oversight of Pathfinder’s legal function, and legal counsel to the CEO, Board of Directors, organizational business units, and country organizations. He will serve as a strategic advisor and will provide guidance in establishing new organizational and business structures, such as local entities, joint ventures, and other contractual partnerships.

Glasser received his undergraduate degree at the University of Rochester and his law degree from the Brooklyn Law School. He is admitted to the Bar in New York State and is an active member of the New York City Bar Association’s Non-Profit Organizations Committee.
