Project Goals
Enable youth-led sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) organizations to provide leadership and strengthen capacity for action at district and national levels.
Improve and expand access to SRHR services among adolescents, young people, women, and marginalized groups in rural areas, including last-mile communities.
Engage traditional and religious leaders to support SRHR for young people.
Institutionalize and scale up youth-friendly, inclusive SRHR practices in the programs and approaches of ministries in charge of health, education, and youth.
Overview
Jagorantin Matassa, better known as J-Matassa (meaning “youth leadership”), is a sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) initiative targeting young people in Niger, particularly women. J-Matassa seeks to reduce early marriage, unwanted pregnancies, and maternal mortality; provide opportunities for personal and professional development; and strengthen the financial autonomy of women and young people to enable them to choose their own paths forward.
