There is limited and fragmented availability of resources in Pakistan to provide scientifically rigorous, and locally relevant technical social and behavior change (SBC) support to key stakeholders in the Country, working on promoting SBC for positive health outcomes.

In August 2020, BMGF funded Pathfinder to launch the national SBCC Community of Practice (CoP), later renamed the SBC CoP in 2023 to expand its scope. The CoP aims to Engage, Advance, and Influence synergy and thought leadership in SBC programs in the country.

The SBC CoP offers a robust platform for rapid engagement of stakeholders on SBC and allows stakeholders to convene as a community of practitioners for better knowledge sharing, horizontal learning, setting a learning agenda, and identification of mutually beneficial synergies. It allows participants to exchange technical information and share experiences about SBC program design, development, and implementation for promoting improved health outcomes.

A national practitioner community that fosters behavioral science driven, people centered and systems-oriented Social and Behavior Change practice in humanitarian and development settings.

To cultivate, nurture, and elevate SBC practice by strengthening practioner capacity and capability, building social capital and collective efficacy for SBC practice, advancing thought leadership in SBC, and advocating for investments and leveraging resources for SBC initiatives.

  • Facilitate sharing knowledge among members through exchange of technical information, and sharing experiences and results about SBC program design, development, and implementation, results.
  • Create opportunities for cross-learning and programmatic synergy in SBC programming among CoP Members.
  • ENGAGE: The CoP is well resourced and supported to actively engage and motivate members to lead and contribute to the CoP mission.
  • ADVANCE: The CoP facilitates dialogue, collaboration, and partnerships to identify and establish synergies across a range of SBC investments.
  • INFLUENCE: The CoP is a national thought leader in SBC stewarding meaningful SBC knowledge management, sharing and SBC focused advocacy with Government, Donors, and Private sector (for profit and non-profit) stakeholders.
