DownloadPathfinder International, with generous support from the Takeda Global CSR, is implementing the Advancing the Leadership of Women and Girls Toward Better Health and Climate Change Resilience project in Bangladesh and Pakistan from 2022 to 2025. In Bangladesh, this project, often referred to as “Dishari,” is implemented in Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona, Kishoreganj and Cox’s Bazar districts to strengthen health systems, enhance women’s and young people’s leadership, and improve community resilience.
To achieve these goals, the project promotes youth-led and community action for improving livelihood options; building resilient health systems; managing health risks associated with climate change by supporting sexual and reproductive health services; improving food and nutritional practices; ensuring access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities; and eliminating gender-based violence. A number of schools were engaged to ensure adolescents’ awareness and participation in climate conversations and actions. This brief outlines the program’s school-based intervention in Bangladesh. It highlights our key learnings and outcomes, advocating for the central role of schools in climate resilience efforts to strengthen community resilience.
