Training Curriculum: Integrating Gender-Based Violence Response into Family Planning and Reproductive Health Service Delivery

Bangladesh

Gender-Based Violence (GBV), a human rights violation that is frequently and consistently exacerbated in times of stress and crisis, significantly affects family planning and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes. Yet, SRH providers and service managers are often ill-supported and undertrained to recognize the outcome dynamics between GBV and family planning/SRH service uptake, build confidence and competence in discussing violence, and provide first-line response to clients in need of help.

To close this gap, Pathfinder partnered with the Government of Bangladesh to develop a groundbreaking 2-day training to advance the knowledge and skill set of family planning and SRH service providers to provide GBV-responsive care in routine family planning and SRH services.

A first in the region and one of the first such national training programs in the world, the “Integrating Gender-Based Violence Response into Family Planning and Reproductive Health Service Delivery” package includes the following training resources (available in both English and Bangla):

  • Manual for Trainers
  • Manual for Participants
  • Training Slides – Deck 1
  • Training Slides – Deck 2

This training was developed by Pathfinder with support from USAID through the Accelerating Universal Access to Family Planning project, known as Shukhi Jibon in Bangladesh, and from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation through the Cox’s Bazar Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights project.

Focus Areas
  • Combatting Gender-Based Violence
  • Contraception & Family Planning
Approaches
  • Gender Equity
  • Digital Health Innovation
  • Local Capacity Strengthening
